Friendship

The first encounter a warm smile,
A good firm handshake,
You hear a friendly tone,
And stare into caring eyes.
The second encounter, an exchange of wholesome words
Mutual feelings expressed, empathy displayed, and ideas are shared.
The third encounter, love envelopes, feelings of belonging, like brother, like sister
Inclusion and consideration, unselfish thoughts, a desire to serve one another, an unexplainable bond
The fourth encounter, tells the truth
Tragedy always strikes, and separates the strong from the weak
Paths may divide and travel into eternity never to meet again
Or bonds of steel endure and permit everlasting friendship
The latter is true happiness for you have learned to
Love one that is not of you, that you were not
Obligated to love, but from your own heart you
Choose.
