Preah Riem Neang Sitha
This heart, inside of me, the source of my life is suffering
It is crushed with anguish, repressed with sorrow
This source of my life is being smothered by the depth of your apathy
Oh nymph of this world, free me from this heavy punishment
I am from afar, my travel has exhaust me, so when I saw an abode
from a distant hill, I made my last effort to beg for alms
Why stand you so still, what apathy is this, that you must abjure me of this
needed hospitality
In abject humility I bow before you, O nymph of this world,
I come afar, crossed deep jungles, dangerous swamps, and vast sea,
I am hungry and thus beg for thy sympathy, bestow me your kindness
and provide nourishment for my soul
This is my heart that I lay before you,
as a beggar of love, in abject humility
cause me to suffer no more, say if you are apathetic
that you do not want me to stay,
but say if you are sympathetic that you will answer my alms
and leave me unattended no more
my heart is in your hand, do as you will,
let it die or let it live, only you can decide now
In every movement of my meditation, every movement of
my thoughts, my inner eyes see you and at this sight
mindfulness is lost and my thoughts are no longer tranquil
if have not mercy on my heart, have mercy on my soul
detachment or love, only you can give
free me of your spell, or be a presence by my side
be the light of my meditation, or the void of tranquility
but don't be both.
I desire not your kiss, or your hold
just the presence of your love, the peace of looking
into your eyes and the knowledge of your faithful loyalty
what more is love then this?
Pure friendship, can there be any love purer than this?

This poetry is inspired by the epic Ramayana, one of the longest epic I will ever
hear and will ever watch again. When my uncle said it would take him the whole night to recite the story and it wouldn't be complete, I didn't believe it. Now I saw the movie, it took me almost 12 hours, and i didn't even start from the very beginning!
Supposedly it have 24,000 Sanskrit couplets. Its origin is somewhere from India but the epic gains wide popularity and influence in Southeast Asian literature as well.

Love returned, Within a Dream - English Version
Love returned, Within a Dream
Last night,
I dream of seeing you,
and we met each other marked by felicitous and happy time,
then you spoke, "Let's go somewhere for fun,"
content with joy I waited for the time,
to unfortunate sadness, I encountered a hinderance obstacle
in the middle of a city, I have been forced to dwell, trapped by force of will,
for when I escaped this dwelling prison city
I came to meet you again,
Seeing your beautiful smile, I was poised with hope
that I have not come too late for you
But, I was wrong, your beautiful smile was with new love,
you forgotten the person who has been faithful to you,
Sadness, my heart shakes, with pain of loss, my love is won
by another person,
at this scene I came to wake, finally in full conscious, I knew
it was not meant to be, the will of karma was not for us
Pali/Khmer elements: Poem notes.
Writing good poetry in Khmer is hard since it is a common practice to integrate Pali words into the text. These
words conveys cultural obsorption and integration of Buddhist beliefs and values into Khmer society. Words such
as Anukama, Sneh, Thani, Antara, Obasak, Viharana, and puntiniakia for example in this poetry are derived from Pali origin.
The concept of nisai, or "fate", meant to be, is closely linked to the idea of a person's karma. Thus for a poetry from such
different sets of values and belief it is inherently difficult to translate into English. So the above is my best translation based on current
cross-cultural knowledge. I must admit this is probably a really bad translation.
Title meaning Notes:
Love returned, or Annukama, does not mean the actual return of a person, but of the emotion, or a response of the original feeling.
Hope you enjoy!

Anukama rbos Sineha, the translation
At the request of my friend Sniperwolf, I have agree to translate this poem into English. It will be posted soon, after all my test are over for the week. Come back after Wednesday if you are interested in reading the English version. Translations will be hard, messages will lose some meaning, so I will do my best to stay true to it original form and content.
Thanks,
Cdon

Inspirations of Snow
A gift from the sky,
falls graciously and decorates my bare day,
snow,
you falls into my hand,
beauty that melts with the grasp of
joy,
beautiful like the snow,
a girl, I admire, but like the delicate snow,
she melts from my hold,
oh beauty that can only be observed,
enough awe and love is inspired
will you not be my love finally that i can hold
don't melt a way from me,
a handful of snow which I took,
and this i observed:
grasp in hand and, additions do hold,
soft it was before, ice then it formed
no longer does it melt by touch of my palm
perhaps love is this way,
picked up separately and form together
by the passage of time, like snow that
harden by the grasp of my hand,
love can be be form by accumulation of trust,
time, and friendships,
if this is true, let me
always be near you

Friendship
By: Sniperwolf
The first encounter a warm smile,
A good firm handshake,
You hear a friendly tone,
And stare into caring eyes.
The second encounter, an exchange of wholesome words
Mutual feelings expressed, empathy displayed, and ideas are shared.
The third encounter, love envelopes, feelings of belonging, like brother, like sister
Inclusion and consideration, unselfish thoughts, a desire to serve one another, an unexplainable bond
The fourth encounter, tells the truth
Tragedy always strikes, and separates the strong from the weak
Paths may divide and travel into eternity never to meet again
Or bonds of steel endure and permit everlasting friendship
The latter is true happiness for you have learned to
Love one that is not of you, that you were not
Obligated to love, but from your own heart you
Choose.
"Alas",.... poem by a friend
Alas,
Love... It hurts…

Love
I truly do. I wish there
was a better word that
more truly encompassed the depth
to which I love and adore you.
You are my life, it is not possible
for me to live with out you. I want
to hold you, kiss you, caress you,
be with you every moment of every
second in my life. My heart despairs
when I am not with you,
and when I must depart from you,
I do so with the utmost reluctance.
Woe, for you are so unbelievably
beautiful, that for every time that
I have the honor of gaping into
your unforgiving eyes, my soul leaps
with joy, and in life I can not be more
content then at that moment.
Love me, say it is so,
reassure me that this passion is
mutual, for with out
you in my life, there is none.
